The new MAC700 - Hotdog compressor by Makita is blowing away the competition with built-in features such as a super quiet motor that draws only 12.0HP AIRCOMPRESSOR 12. hot dog tank Low amp draw & oil lubricated Roll-bar handle Industrial air filter & cast iron cylinder Oil sight glass & lever handle ball valve Built-in thermal overload for motor protection MAC700 2HP AIRCOMPRESSOR.
found in MAC700's reviews: broken twice - Worse than that is after fixing it I looked online to write this review and it is $25 cheaper. Quiet, Solid, Well Made - After all the reviews that complained about shipping damage, I was pleased when mine arrived in perfect condition. I wanted a portable compressor for using my nail guns at old houses, and was ready to replace my antique mastodon shopcompressor. I was thinking I may have to buy two compressors, most portable units were too loud for the shop. A few weeks ago I bought a Ridgid brand "oil-free" compressor at Home Depot but it was so loud that I couldn't use it indoors, even covered with a chunk of old carpet. It had good air flow.3 CFM is higher than many of the 75-pound twin stack compressors I saw. To reduce cycling in the shop, I attached my 5-gallon air tank (the kind you use for putting air in a flat tire) to the tank side of the regulator with a T and snap coupler. In the shop the tank is effectively 8 gallons.like don't use the compressor in the bathtub. It's a large, high quality compressor mounted on a small, portable tank. You'll get really spoiled if you're used to a noisy oil-less compressor. I shopped around and couldn't beat the Amazon price with free shipping. It is as advertised - If you're considering an oil less compressor,,, don't.
This unit is not supposed to be a "contractor's" compressor. If you need a compressor for big job sites, buy an appropriate unit. For home, shop, garage use, it seems perfect. Smashed crankcase cover - The compressor came by USPS and I had to pick it up from the post office. I called the service department and the manager is very friendly to offer for the repair. After waiting for an hour at the service shop, I came out with a working compressor.
I only have had the compressor for 3 days, and, it has been working like they advertised.

The new MAC2400 - Twin Stack aircompressor by Makita is blowing away the competition.3 amps to operate, a lower 1720 RPM rating and a heavy duty Intake Air Filter system like no other, its easy to see how this unit will out last and outperform everyone else. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC2400's reviews: The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - I do not want to repeat what all the other reviews have said. This is a quality compressor. In this day and age of plastic junk, I am surprised some of the reviews complained about wieght.
The compressor is just as quiet as others report. I have it in the corner of my workshop about 10 from me.
Why did I get this compressor? In sum, (1) I wanted a GOOD quality tool that was not Chineese junk, (2) I wanted at least 4 cfm for tools and (2) I did not want to spend a fortune. There seems to be several classes or levels of compressor in the lower price range. Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors. The Dewalt is an excellent compressor, but you cannot use it next to you in an exclosed shop -- its too loud.
So, I wanted a quality tool and one that could live in the shop next to me. It is a very well made little compressor. It has a dual personality: it works and looks great in the corner of the shop AND is perfect for taking to a job site or the back yard.
The compressor seems to live up to its specs. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate.
I have not owned a compressor is many years. As an advanced and serious home workshop dude, this review is not written for the pros. But for a serious homeowner that appreciates quality tools and needs a general purpose compressor, I believe I found the perfect compressor.
Lastly, no shop came close to Amazon on total price, in large part due to the free shipping. Very Good Compressor - This compressor is everything that the reviews said. It is the perfect compressor for home use. It is some what limited on the amount of air you can use at one time. Very good unit for a single nail gun and other general home shop use. I would recommend this unit to anyone for their home shop!. Even a dummy can operate this... - Makes it comfortable to use in your shop without having to wear ear plugs! . Quiet as can be... - If you have a small shop or space where a compressor is close to your work, you will appreciate how quiet the 1725 rpm motor is on this compressor. The unit is heavy, and not likely to provide enough air to simultaneously run 2 heavy framing guns, but it shines in an environment where you are running finish nailers in a closed space. Excellent performer! - For the home shop or light/medium duty construction, this is an excellent piece of equipment. I decided on the MAC2400 because of the reviews I read and Makita's reputation. Excellent compressor - I use this for a home wood shop and occasional side jobs. It is heavy, but so are all of the other compressors in its class. It is QUIET which is something I cannot say for any other compressor in its class. It is also an easy 2 handed carry: By placing each hand on the sides of the tubular frame (not the top where the rubber grip is) I can safely carry this thing up and down stairs. Best in class - I think it's the best for the following: A) This compressor just purrs. B) Over-built compressor compared to tank size - so cycle times are very short - if using light-duty tools, it doesn't run much anyway. C) No leaks - holds its air pressure seemingly forever when turned off (not that you shouldn't release pressure when done using it). D) The air filter is a miniature version of an old-time car air filter. The glaring exception is the air filter hanging off the side - I can see this part's going to be replaced at some point when I throw it in a truck bed. No problem for shop use though. In this case, the air filter is just thrown in loose inside the box - mine broke one of the gauge glasses. Perfect compressor - quiet & powerful - I needed a compressor to put up a fence, install mouldings and refinish my basement.
I've read other reviews that speak to the weight of this unit. Well, it's a compressor and they ARE heavy. Especially a high-quality compressor like this one.
Additional comments:
The finned discharge tubing on this thing is fantastic - if you've never had your hand seared like a steak after touching discharge tubing on a compressor, you haven't truly felt pain. I can use the compressor in my basement shop and can barely hear it running on the main level.
If you're looking for a high-quality, oil-lube (don't know why anyone would go for a non-oil unit) compressor that will last for years, look no further.

found in PC0947's reviews: Woodworker Hobby or Trim Tool - I got this package for very light duty use - woodworking shop projects and qtr-round molding on flooring. The nailer is a quality tool that sells for $120 everywhere so that makes the compressor only $75. I had a $15 coupon so the compressor was only $60 for me. The compressor is so light that it is no problem carrying it. I used 5/8" brads on molding on a shop project and 2" brads on floor qtr-round without a single problem. I will get an air blower tip for it; so far I'm satisfied. I'm impressed. - The compressor is small & quiet and has absolutely no problem keeping up with the nailer. I own an old 5 horse 220 v compressor but wanted something to use inside the house without running hundreds of feet of hose from the garage. I shop online alot and would like to say that Amazon.

At (74-decibels) the Thomas T-2820ST is the quietest 2 HP contractor grade compressor on the market. Delivering 5 cfm at 100 psi it is also the highest output 2 HP compressor available. Often called "The Cadillac of Portables" it sets the standard on what 2 HP compressors should be.
found in T-2820ST's reviews: This is a keeper! - this is a great compressor. I've used it for air guns, various types of light and heavy duty nail guns, and shop tools. Very quiet compared to other compressors of the same size, but compressors will never be mistaken for a 'silent' partner.

found in EC12's reviews: Happy, but could be happier - The compressor is still fairly new and seems to provide excellent power for framing guns, finishing nailers, and hoppers. However, I am not incredibly impressed with this compressors ability to start. I realize during the cold winter mornings (not too cold in the San Francisco bay area), that some compressors require an empty tank to kick over, but this is getting a little ridiculous. I have seen on another review that a Smart Start inlet filter can be purchased to cure this problem, but it's annoying that you need to buy new parts to cure problems on a new compressor.
I guess having only one complaint for a power tool isn't too bad, but I'm sure there's a better compressor out there. Hitachi's Dependable Compressor - I chose the Hitachi three years ago because it has a fine compressor and motor, solid construction, and overall good design. It has been entirely reliable and three years later I still am using it both in my cabinet shop and on the job for residential remodeling. The Hitachi is not only reliable, but, unlike many compressors, it truly works on 15 amps. This compressor has never blown a fuse on me, which is something of a miracle considering the wiring in many of the older homes I remodel. A good little workhorse - Puts out enough air to keep two framing nailguns running at full speed.
I find that I am using the big shopcompressor much less - it's just so easy to plug in the handy little Hitachi for everything.

It was very easy to get started and the operation of both the compressor and the nailer was excellent. Slow starting motor - Once running it a real jewel and fairly quiet. This is a most annoying situation and it's currently in the shop.
