The unit is light enough to carry around easily, and its shape rides comfortably beside your walking legs (unlike pancake compressors). The compressor only puts out about 1 CFM and has a 2 gallon tank. I only get several seconds of shop blowing before the unit cycles on, but that's OK for my home workshop use. You will not be happy with this compressor unless your needs and preferences are similar to mine. It really doesn't put out or hold much air. No durability experience since I haven't had the compressor for long. The factory replied quickly and completely to an e-mail question I had while shopping.

As the other reviewer also mentioned the compressor does NOT come with oil so be sure to have SAE30 air-compressor oil ready when it arrives. Also, you will need to provide your choice of air outlet connector. If it wasn't for the bad shipment packaging I'd say initially that the compressor is a good buy but if Campbell Hausfeld has so little regard to protecting their product in shipment to you I question the integrity of the machine itself. UPDATE 7/15: I am updating this review a full day after receiving and can add more to the trials and tribulations of purchasing a C-H compressor. The air filter assembly is currently taped but working until I can get a replacment. All in all if you include travel time to Home Depot nearly 2-1/2 hours were spent just getting the compressor to work only to discover that there is a leak at weld where the pump mount attaches to the tank.) if using an extension cable as this compressor does draw a load when starting. IMHO I wouldn't order a product like this if you need it for an immediate job as it will take to either repair yourself or to return and await a replacement. I thought the oiled compressors were quieter. I had been shopping around for an affordable compressor and realized that with COSTCO's return policy that I couldn't go wrong. I will update this review after some heaver use. The facts about this air compressor - Don't believe everything that the editors at Amazon wrote about this compressor. With those jobs you need a large tank capacity like over 20 gallons at least, this compressor only has 4 gallons. Yes it is true what the other reviewer said, this compressor is loud, but what do you expect all air compressors are relatively loud. And yes this compressor is heavy I think it's about 70 lbs. Hitatchi's twinstack oil-lube version is about the same as this compressor but goes for twice the price. I gave this review three out of five stars because of the weight issue and because I havn't had enough time to use it extensively. Other than that I think that this compressor is a buy because it's oil-lubed (more reliable than oil less), affordable, and made by a company that is known for it's air compressors.

CastAir is not a commercial brand, but the factory where they are made is about 2 miles from my house in Chaska, MN. These compressors were only recently made available to non-commercial applications (previously they specialized in huge compressors used in body shops, etc. It's quiet, powerful, and SOLID as a ROCK!!! A REAL contractor grade compressor for the same amount as I paid for this PC. I have NO relationship or incentive to recommend CastAir other than I'm a very satisfied customer. I turned it on two years ago and it has been on ever sense it kicks on about every hour because there is a leak I have not fixed in my air system. As to the previous reviewer he is full of bull. Yes it puts of a lot of heat but if you do the math PV=nRt you will see that a lot of heat is given off compressing that much air. Also in response to the allegations that the tank was going to over pressurize If the switch failed and it continued to run there is a spring loaded safety valve on the power switch on the compressor so it is not possible to over pressurize it, mine hits about 133 before it kicks off.
