Whether you need a compressor for woodworking, painting, caulking or construction, this 5-gallon Makita is a great choice, primarily because of its impressive 6-1/2 cfm at 90 psi on a 13. Built-in Storage Compartment - Conveniently stores air fittings & accessories. Air Hose Wrap - Stores 50 of 3/8" Air Hose with handle folded or upright. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC5200's reviews: Worried, distressed, & troubled - Not - turned out awesome!!! - Now to the unit - awesome!!! A container of compressor oil was included - filled the oil reserve and went to "initial startup procedure" on page 10 of owner's manual. Was somewhat confused by Step 1 - open the "air receiver's drain value". What the %^*& is a air receiver's drain value??? I know what the Drain Valve or Cock at the bottom of the tank is - but was I missing something? A fast call to Makita's service center confirmed to open drain valve on tank for the no-load break in. I think I'll be very pleased with this compressor if everything remains as positive as the initial impressions.

found in EC12's reviews: Good to go - The hitachi 2 horse protable compressor is light enough tocarry around the jobsite but heavy enough so it won't fall out theback of the truck. It delivers plenty of air for nailers air wrenchs and filling tires. I wouldn't use it for painting but it was about the same price as the Coleman compressors. Hitachi EC12 2-Horsepower AirCompressor - Overall a great compressor. I have taken it everywhere, on roofs, in fields, in basements, run it off a generator, used it for almost everything you could use a compressor for, and it keeps on going. Nailing (framing and finishing) , small paint jobs with a cup gun or pressure pot, air chisle, air ratchet, air wrench, you name it. I have to carry a propane heater on the truck to warm up the compressor so it will run. Horrible warranty service from Hitachi and Amazon - We sent the Ec 12 in for repair after only six months of use, on April 12. They still have not repaired or returned the compressor. A DECENT LIGHT DUTY UNIT - I've a professional woodworker for 20+ years and have owned several small compressors. The list price of $600+ is a joke but wouldn't be all that far out of line if it didn't come with the flaws in the controls that turn up eventually in all light duty compressors in the $200-$300 price range. It's likely that if you plan on running it all day to feed one or multiple framing nailers, you might be better off purchasing something more expensive, installing a GPS locator chip for when it disappears or chaining it to your truck while being guarded by a junk yard dog. Using a light duty unit like this to feed tools like air sanders or paint guns would fry even larger, inexpensive, medium duty compressors after a realtively short time. Zero stars for Amazon & Tool Crib - Based on the fantastic reviews, I decided to purchase this compressor. The box arrived, and when I opened it, I was a little surprised at how little packing material there was - just a box with the compressor inside. As Amazon has no customer service number to call, I'm not sure how I'll get satisfaction.

found in C3551's reviews: Good idea, but a bit more durabilty would be nice - I've been using this compressor for about 2 years of daily remodeling work in Colorado in all weather conditions. I bought it because I was tired of lugging around other compressors that didn't have wheels. The rolling design of this compressor is very good because it can easily go up and down stairs as well as over typical construction site obstacles.
After a year of use the motor kept tripping breakers, so I took the compressor in for service and it received a new compressor and motor.
I work on job sites that have ancient compressors that continue to function flawlessly (but they're really heavy to move around), so I'm a bit worried by the problems I've noticed in only 2 years of use.
Because this compressor is oil lubricated, it does get sluggish in the winter. It also cannot supply as much air as the oil-free version. A trim subcontractor I know has the oil-free version and he has to rebuild his compressor annually with a $40 repair kit, so oil free isn't entirely without issues.
If you already have a compressor you like, I'd bolt some good wheels onto it and weld a nice handle onto the frame.

Additional uses include, airbrushing, inflating tires, air mattresses, sports equipment, and winterizing RV's and motor homes.
found in T-617HDN's reviews: Great little compressor! - I have several compressors - from a commercial "giant" model - down to this newest addition. I bought this for my hot rod trailer - and I needed a compressor that would run off a 3kw generator. I only needed this to air up the tires (75 psi on the trailer and 85 psi on the fronts of the truck) and the occasional "blow gun" for clean up.

4 HP, 4 Gallon, Gas Twin Stack Compressor, High Volume Air Output 4.5 CFM @ 100 PSI, Portable Air Power Honda 4 HP Gas, Automatic Throttle Idle Control, Direct Drive Pump For Improved Portability, Oil Lubricated Improved Compressor Life.
found in D55250's reviews: Incredible cfm for weight! - I bought this compressor for use in heavy commercial construction. It is more portable than the wheelbarrow compressors and can be put in the back of a pickup truck (unit is no feather weight though --- about 70 lbs!) This compressor has the best of all features--- reliable Honda engine, reliable Emglo compressor, overbuilt protective frame and quality gauges and quick connects make this an outstanding compressor. Most compressors capable of running two frame nailers draw enough power that it will constantly trip the the breaker on a temporary service pole unless run on 240 volts. With the gasoline compressor, all you have to do is make sure it has fuel and start it up! No extension cords and no more tripped breakers! We have used this compressor to run two paslode frame nailers shooting down 5/8" plywood nailed every 3" around the perimeter (120 mph rating) and this little guy could amazingly keep up! The compressor isn't louder than the DeWalt electric counterpart when running and the Honda engine means it will run for many years to come. Go buy a lighter, less expensive compressor for the finish guns. This machine is meant to turn out a much more substantial amount of air!
The only downside to this compressor is the price and its weight. That is a lot of money to shell over for a machine that does nothing more than compress air! But, then again, would you really be reading this if all you needed was an average duty Lowe's variety compressor? And if you have a pickup, leave the unit in the back and let it run. compressor up. It seems like they could have trimmed a few more pounds off the compressor and a few more dollars!

8 Gallon, 15A Cast Iron AirCompressor, Oil Lube Pump With 2.
found in HL5501's reviews: Sturdy, portable, cheap oil-lubricated compressor... But noisy! -
Let me start by saying that I can't live without an aircompressor. Those of you who don't have one have no idea how much you'll use it and what an integral part of any household project or repair it will become when you finally have one. That being said, let me explain why I bought this particular compressor and what I think about it thus far.
Until recently, I had an 8-gallon oil-free compressor that was handed down to me from my dad after I bought him a large stationary garage unit about 6 years ago. This thing lasted about 13 years with very regular use with a few repairs over the years. This is absolutely unheard of with an oil-free compressor. In order to replace the blue tarp roof provided by FEMA with some actual shingles, I will need a compressor to power my roofing and framing nailers. Portability and reliability are important factors in order to assist with the reconstruction efforts of the community once the repairs to my home are complete. This is why I decided on an oil-lubricated compressor. Although I had great success with the aforementioned oil-free compressor, I do understand that this was more the exception than the rule. It is hard to find an oil-lubed compressor that is both portable and affordable., making them very difficult to get in and out of your truck/car by yourself, let alone getting them up a flight of stairs. This compressor does not come with oil, even though the instruction manual says "only use the oil that was shipped with the compressor." The other thing that you will run into is that it does not come with a coupler to connect an air hose to. Although this is very common for air tools not to come with the required fittings to connect it to a hose, there is one difference here. I have never seen a quick-disconnect air hose connector (the hose end that has the sleeve to release the connection) with male threads on it. (a brass pipe nipple for you plumbers out there)
Use: The Campbell Hausfeld HL5501 overall seems to be a very good compressor. If you are looking into this compressor because of the reduced noise level that oil-lubed compressors are known for, then you will be disappointed. This compressor is every bit as loud as any comparable oil-free unit.
Conclusion: I would recommend this compressor to the handy home user that wants the reliability and longevity of an oil-lube compressor, but doesn't want to spend a lot of money. I would not recommend this compressor if the noise level is a big issue, but be prepared to spend a lot more money for a belt-driven unit.

found in CPFC2TV3525VP's reviews: Good Compromise - The compressor is very easy to set up and use. The compressor has a very solid feel and is very heavy. There is no way I could load it into the back of my truck by myself. They are adequate for moving the compressor around the garage, but would not work well on stairs or outside. In my opinion the compressor is loud, particularly if you are in a closed room. However the rumble of the motor is much more tolerable than the high pitched whine of some of the other compressors I checked out. great choice for general purpose home use - The two-stage compressor means that it is quieter than a single-stage unit, and should mean better reliability as well.
I've used some fairly demanding air tools with it, such as air drills and die grinders. The motor comes on early and stays on under continuous air drill usage, but it manages to keep up. It definitely takes two people to lift it up into a truck bed. Not too big or too small - Can run my air ratchet or 1/2' impact quite a long time without turning on. BTW most of my use revolves around automotive service tools, ratchets, impacts, and chisels. A sander (especially a high-speed unit) uses an awful lot of air and under heavy sander use I think this unit would be "strained". Bottom line if you need a compressor but the smaller 15 to 20 gal types are not enough and a big 60 to 80 gal.
