The new MAC2400 - Twin Stack aircompressor by Makita is blowing away the competition.3 amps to operate, a lower 1720 RPM rating and a heavy duty Intake Air Filter system like no other, its easy to see how this unit will out last and outperform everyone else.2CFM @ 90PSI and is equipped with a lever handled ball valve drain system to get rid of condensation build up in the tank . Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency. Lever handle ball valve - tank drain valve improves upon standard petcock design for easier maintenance.
found in MAC2400's reviews: A great compressor - Not only is this compressor a great looker, it performs flawlessly. It is the most quiet operating twin stack compressor I have used. Not for Contractors - 2 cfm 3 hp 5 gallon tank unit it is twice the machine for around $ 50 dollars more, you wont be sorry! It can run two nail guns driving 3inch coated ring shank nails. Very pleased - This is my first aircompressor, and I just received it yesterday so can't vouch for long-term quality, but I just wanted folks to know that it has ZERO damage. The air filter was packaged in a heavy plastic baggie along with the oil and manual. The thin paper manual has a few indentations from the wingnut on the air filter pressing into it, but the compressor unit itself is showroom clean. I'm also impressed with how quickly the motor charges the tank. Lost a star for the tiny tanks - It is pretty quite for a compressor. Pumps up fast and empties its tanks just as fast! So if you just want "some air" for blowing out that carb you're rebuilding. My 3/8" air ratchet had it "flat" in no time. Makita if you're listening, please build something with a BIG TANK for us guys that don't have to walk around with it all day. Best in class - I think it's the best for the following: A) This compressor just purrs. B) Over-built compressor compared to tank size - so cycle times are very short - if using light-duty tools, it doesn't run much anyway. C) No leaks - holds its air pressure seemingly forever when turned off (not that you shouldn't release pressure when done using it). D) The air filter is a miniature version of an old-time car air filter. The glaring exception is the air filter hanging off the side - I can see this part's going to be replaced at some point when I throw it in a truck bed. In this case, the air filter is just thrown in loose inside the box - mine broke one of the gauge glasses. Perfect compressor - quiet & powerful - I needed a compressor to put up a fence, install mouldings and refinish my basement. Well, it's a compressor and they ARE heavy. Especially a high-quality compressor like this one. The thing's built like a tank and looks great.
Additional comments:
The finned discharge tubing on this thing is fantastic - if you've never had your hand seared like a steak after touching discharge tubing on a compressor, you haven't truly felt pain.
The tanks fill quickly enough, and the gauges are really nice quality. I can use the compressor in my basement shop and can barely hear it running on the main level.
If you're looking for a high-quality, oil-lube (don't know why anyone would go for a non-oil unit) compressor that will last for years, look no further.

found in EC12's reviews: Happy, but could be happier - The compressor is still fairly new and seems to provide excellent power for framing guns, finishing nailers, and hoppers. However, I am not incredibly impressed with this compressors ability to start. I realize during the cold winter mornings (not too cold in the San Francisco bay area), that some compressors require an empty tank to kick over, but this is getting a little ridiculous. On a 45 degree morning I don't even try to kick over the tank before making sure it is decompressed completely, and during the middle of the day I still have to, on a not-so-rare occasion, pull the pressure release valve. I have seen on another review that a Smart Start inlet filter can be purchased to cure this problem, but it's annoying that you need to buy new parts to cure problems on a new compressor.
I guess having only one complaint for a power tool isn't too bad, but I'm sure there's a better compressor out there. great quality, reasonable price - The other item is the brass stem out of the upper tank to the regulator; it positions the regulator in a location which is very susceptible to be knocked off. The positives: I've used it for over a year now, building two houses (both framing and finish guns), with little or no maintenance, the oil lubed compressor is fast. Excellent Compressor - The compressor is quiet, powerful, and reliable so far. I have looked at quite a few compressors and 95% of them have something hanging out waiting to be sheared off if impacted. I think it would be fairly simple for them to tuck the regulator assembly between the tank and pump to avoid possible damage but few manufacturers do so I didn't take any stars away for that. Great price, great compressor. I modified my compressor by bolting a single gang plastic electrical box to the leg under the regulator. The compressor power cord is spliced inside the box to a recepticle and a 25 foot 12ga cord that provides power to the recepticle for accessory power tools or extension cords, etc.

found in CWC200ST's reviews: Compressor head is OK but the extra parts are of low quality - I bought one of these compressors a couple of months ago after doing carefull research and actually going to a repair facility here in AZ that handles warranty repairs for a variety of brands. I estimate that the compressor has about 15 (fifteen) hours of use by now. The condensation drains are installed in a bad place and when open do not drain because they are too high on the tanks I estimate that it will have over a QUART of water inside each tank before any will reach the drains. You will have to tilt the compressor down and rock it side to side to get the water out, furthermore when tilted the lower drain hits the floor impedig drainage so you actually have to lift this rather heavy machine and tilt it and rockit at the same time in order to drain. Shortly after purchasing the unit one of the Quick Disconnects on the compressor will not seal itself after the hose is taken off and will merily leak all the air out in about one minute, I had to replace that so I could use the machine. For about the last five hours of use I started to notice that if left pressurized overnight the air was gone in the morning upon closer inspection I could hear a faint hiss comming from somewhere behind the regulator It was not much just enough to leak and turn the machine on about every 15 minutes even if I did not use air. Yesterday the manual regulator prooved to be the culprit as when I started the compressor for the first time it would not hold air at all. I put my head next to it to listen for the noise of air escaping and sure enough there was a faint hisssss. While I was trying to figure out where the noise is caming from The back of the manual regulator popped loose again suddenly letting all the air escape in an instant startling me and prompting my wife to ask from the kitchen some ways away: "did you do that on purpose?" Well NO. Overall the tech was right the actuall compressor is well done I believe he said it was Italian made the rest is rather sloppy and not thought out well.

found in CPFC2TV3525VP's reviews: Not too big or too small - It's relatively quiet (sound is kind of like the low hum of a BMW boxer twin motorcycle cruising), not unpleasant. Can run my air ratchet or 1/2' impact quite a long time without turning on. A sander (especially a high-speed unit) uses an awful lot of air and under heavy sander use I think this unit would be "strained". Bottom line if you need a compressor but the smaller 15 to 20 gal types are not enough and a big 60 to 80 gal. Quiet, portable and powerful - I shopped around for weeks before I decided on this compressor. I wanted a compressor for home that I could run an impact on or a DA sander but I also wanted something portable that I could run a nailer on. I had planned to buy two compressors but this compressor will do both. We all know that pancake and especially stacked tank portables are great but they are also noisy, relativley expensive for a good one and really ought to have wheels in addition to the handle, because carrying one is a joke. This compressor is surprisingly quiet and is quite powerful. The two stage allows it to provide the power of a compressor twice it's capacity and uses twice the horsepower.) So if you're buying one for home or stationary use that will be run a lot, look at buying a 2-stage 240 volt compressor, it will save you money when the electric bill comes. Recovery time is what you should look for and don't expect any compressor to keep quiet for long when you're running a continuous tool like a sander. Something to consider if you're serious about buying this compressor is look at the CPFC2TV3520WK, it's the same compressor with a 20 gallon horizontal tank but it has a four port remote regulator which might be of use or interest to you. I'll post again in the future once I've used the compressor more and know it a little better. I would recommend renting a compressor or borrowing one from someone who has it prior to making your decision if you haven't used them enough to know what you want from one. Oops, where's that quality control? - I'd love to review this product but when it was assembled, they cross threaded the tube that connects the compressor unit with the storage tank. A lot of bang for your buck... - I got this compressor for Christmas from my dad. We looked at many compressors before purchasing this one. This 2 stage 2-cylinder rig can really put the air out and what surprised me the most is how quiet it is. I am also extremely pleased with the performance that this compressor has. I currently run air impacts, butterfly impacts, air ratchets, air hammers, multiple die grinders, a right angle grinder, engine degreaser and have never come close to taxing the limits. It has plenty of air to spare. I leave the compressor always plugged in so it can recover whenever need. I would say it pretty much just sits in the corner and does its job with no tending to besides an occasional tank draining and filter check. I highly recommend this to anyone doing serious work with a compressor. great choice for general purpose home use - The two-stage compressor means that it is quieter than a single-stage unit, and should mean better reliability as well.
I've used some fairly demanding air tools with it, such as air drills and die grinders. The motor comes on early and stays on under continuous air drill usage, but it manages to keep up.
The only thing I don't like about it is the process for depressurizing the tank.
