found in T-635HD's reviews: Compressors/Thomas T-635HD - Light weight, dependable; and quiet! This is what I was looking for in a compressor.and this is why I specifically went looking for Thomas Compressors.Since then I have been waiting for my Emglo to get retired so I too can be a proud owner of a Thomas T-635HD
One thing that I did not like when my Thomas T-635HD arrived was a real lack of directions to assemble the few parts that did need to be put on before operation, but anyone with common knowlege of compressors will figure it out. REMEMBER!!! to get a pressure control valve, and all the connections you will need to mount a hose coupler; because these items do not come with the tool.
This compressor is not intended for HIGH-PRODUCTION ie. if you are in the market for a compressor that is small, light;and dependabley quiet. Your search has ended here !
Don't get fooled by tool packs that come with nail gun, air-hose and compressor in one deal you will be looking for a new compressor soon.

The kit comes with quick connects, 25 feet of 150 psi air hose and thread sealing tape.
found in CFBN200A's reviews: Excellent Quality Tool - Good deal for the money - Negatives: none other than the noise of the compressor, but hey it's a power tool what do you expect. Great product delivers almost everything promised - The tool is flawless and the uses for readily available compressed air keep on coming. The Perfect Trim Combo Pack - This is an older and proven compressor design that I was well familiar with. The brad nailer has also proven itself to be a very reliable and easy to use tool.

found in EC12's reviews: Get It. - I saw that right away and chained it to the back side of a gang tool chest for protection. Take care to read all the instructions before using the compressor. The compressor ships without oil in the compressor and in my haste to get started I nearly missed filling it with oil. Tremendous product, good value -
This becomes the third Hitachi tool product I have purchased, and the quality of their products continues to impress me. Hitachi's Dependable Compressor - I chose the Hitachi three years ago because it has a fine compressor and motor, solid construction, and overall good design. I found this out the hard way one day when I had to slam on the brakes in my van and a sliding tool box sheared one of them off. The Hitachi is not only reliable, but, unlike many compressors, it truly works on 15 amps. This compressor has never blown a fuse on me, which is something of a miracle considering the wiring in many of the older homes I remodel. A good little workhorse - Puts out enough air to keep two framing nailguns running at full speed.
I find that I am using the big shop compressor much less - it's just so easy to plug in the handy little Hitachi for everything. This makes a nice tool better. Zero stars for Amazon & Tool Crib - Based on the fantastic reviews, I decided to purchase this compressor. The box arrived, and when I opened it, I was a little surprised at how little packing material there was - just a box with the compressor inside. Happy, but could be happier - I was given a high recommendation for Hitachi power tools by a construction veteran, so I purchased one. The compressor is still fairly new and seems to provide excellent power for framing guns, finishing nailers, and hoppers. However, I am not incredibly impressed with this compressors ability to start. I realize during the cold winter mornings (not too cold in the San Francisco bay area), that some compressors require an empty tank to kick over, but this is getting a little ridiculous. I have seen on another review that a Smart Start inlet filter can be purchased to cure this problem, but it's annoying that you need to buy new parts to cure problems on a new compressor.
I guess having only one complaint for a power tool isn't too bad, but I'm sure there's a better compressor out there.
Contractor quality machine - rated for continuous use. Lightweight and portable - only 26 lbs. Low 4 amp draw - will operate anywhere Will operate any (1) finish gun or brad nailer The quietest finish/trim compressor on the market
found in T-617HDN's description:From the Manufacturer
The super quiet (60 decibel) T-617HDN is the hands down favorite for those that want a quiet running, long life compressor capable of handling any (1) finish gun or brad nailer. Additional uses include, airbrushing, inflating tires, air mattresses, sports equipment, and winterizing RV's and motor homes.
found in T-617HDN's reviews: When Quality & Quiet Matter More Than Price & Power - I researched compressors carefully around town and on the Web. Compressors available at the Borg and various local tool shops are gawdawful loud, heavy, and look to be made of cheap plastic and pot metal. The compressor will be carried around and used indoors. I don't mind paying more for tools that will last a long time. The unit is light enough to carry around easily, and its shape rides comfortably beside your walking legs (unlike pancake compressors).
The compressor only puts out about 1 CFM and has a 2 gallon tank.
You will not be happy with this compressor unless your needs and preferences are similar to mine. It really doesn't put out or hold much air. No durability experience since I haven't had the compressor for long.
0 Extra-flexible 3' hose with universal locking adapter Pressure-tested tank holds compressed air for months Great for inflating car, truck and bike tires, sporting equipment and other recreational equipment in remote areas where a power source is not available
found in KT1100's description: 11 Gallon Air Carry Tank.
Product Description Airtight tank holds compressed air for months Models include: Air shut-off gage.
found in KT1100's reviews: Works as advertised - I've had one of these Campbell Hausfeld tanks for many years, to carry compressed air outside to work on lawn equipment.
Pros:
- For low air-volume applications, or when you need decent pressure for a short while, it works just fine. It's purpose is to have compressed air on a small job (or tire-filling), where there is no electricity.
Cons:
- After filling the tank (125 psi to 175 psi, depending on your aircompressor), pressure will quickly drop below 80 psi once you start using it. So, this tank is only practical for airtool use of very short duration - e., an air ratchet wrench to remove a handful of bolts/nuts. Airtools just don't work [well] with insufficient pressure. In fact, with 11 gallons of pressurized air, this tank is only useful for small air-volume applications, regardless of pressure needed.
With no electricity nearby, options include: this tank, a long extension cord, or a long air hose. Otherwise, any aircompressor would be a better choice, since air volume at pressure, will be unlimited. (Of course, the cheapest tank aircompressors cost around $100.

2.5 horse power, 4-gallon oil-lube compressor
found in CPLDC2540P's reviews: Design flaws - First one of these I received came out of the box damaged beyond repair. Switch was broke, regulator fitting broken off flush with the tank, tabs on the compressor that the shroud connects to were broken off from the compressor. Tool Crib did take very good care of me and sent me a new one. After about 2 hours of use (with me that translates to about 3 months) one of the tabs on the compressor that connects to the shroud has broken off. I have not moved the compressor since the day I took it from its box. It's a bit loud but not as loud as some of the "oil free" compressors are.

Porter-Cable is proud to introduce our first oil-lube compressor. When we first put our engineers on the task of designing an oil-lube compressor we gave them one priority; it could not have the same imported pump as all the other major brands have. Just as in a car, the lubrication system in the pump is the most vital part in a compressor. Now, take this revolutionary pump engineered to last over 3,000 hours of use and add in the "High Pressure Technology" and you have compressor that will run at 150 pounds per square inch (PSI).5 horsepower induction motor is safely shrouded and acts as a wind tunnel providing more than enough air to cool the unit down even under the most strenuous conditions.3 HP Running
Patented oil lubrication system allows pump to be operated on an uneven surface
Universal, High-FloSM, push-to-connect coupler in air outlet
150 PSI tank pressure, equivalent to a 7.3 gallon tank at 125 PSI, for 71% more stored work capacity

Higher 120 PSI cut-in pressure assures nails will be completely driven in before pump cycles on
Two pole, 3,450 RPM capacitor start induction motor for maximum air delivery
High-FloSM air regulator for more work at higher pressure (125 PSI start and 150 PSI stop pressure switch)
Low 12 Amp motor draw prevents accidental tripping of circuit breakers
4 gallon storage capacity air tank supports heavy usage of stapler, brad, finish, roofing and framing nailer
Heavy duty cast iron cylinder construction and large 8 oz. oil capacity to assure long life

found in CPLDC2541S's reviews: Takes to much power and is too loud (also flimsy switch) - This compressor absolutely will NOT run on 15 amps. This makes this compressor almost usless for me because I can never find anywhere to plug it in. And if you DO find a 20 amp circiut to run it on forget about running any other tools on that circuit. I was just working in a basement at the same time as a guy that had a Hitachi compressor and his was less than HALF as loud. The guy helping me tripped over the air hose and it caught on the little shutoff lever. Now my compressor won't even shut off.
This tool is NOT made to be used at a construction site. I'm seriously thinking about just leaving this for the garbage man and buying the DeWalt Emglo compressor. I ended up buying a CastAiraircompressor. CastAir is not a commercial brand, but the factory where they are made is about 2 miles from my house in Chaska, MN. These compressors were only recently made available to non-commercial applications (previously they specialized in huge compressors used in body shops, etc. It's quiet, powerful, and SOLID as a ROCK!!! A REAL contractor grade compressor for the same amount as I paid for this PC. I have NO relationship or incentive to recommend CastAir other than I'm a very satisfied customer. Check them out if you want a REALLY great compressor.

Maximum air power! More delivered air (CFM) gives you the power to do the job right and in less time.
found in SS3L3's reviews: A cheap way to get more CFM... but its still cheap. - This aircompressor is identical to my Ingersoll Rand SS3L3 compressor that I purchased through Northern Tool in the early summer of 2005. This is the first aircompressor that I have ever owned, so it was a learning experience from the start.
It is recommended that you purchase the IR SS3L3 startup kit as the compressor is delivered to you without any oil in it. When I plugged in the compressor to test it out, I found that the motor continued to run even as the gauge on the tank passed 130 psi.
I ran the compressor off and on for several months without any major issues. a little bit of die grinding, I rotated the tires on my car using the impact wrench and air ratchet, I used it to blow dust off my work bench and check the air in my tires on a routine basis. I bought the compressor because I have several project cars, and I would like to begin the serious work of restoring them. Recently, I have been looking at plans for a sandblasting cabinet, and I am starting to doubt that this compressor will stand up to the task of sand blasting for extended periods. Things I have learned about the compressor since its purchase that have led me to this conclusion:
1. (I swap between my compressor and my dryer on the only 230V outlet in my house). This borderline false advertising is similar to peak and RMS power ratings in audio amplifiers, though it is fairly standard operating procedure to rate motors in this fashion. Though it is quieter than a direct drive unit like the 30 gallon compressors sold at most hardware stores, 3450 RPM is still quite fast. With the pulley ratios, the compressor crank spins at 1200 RPM. Heavier duty systems might have the AC motor running at 1200-1750 RPM with the compressor running at ~700 RPM or less, resulting in a much quieter setup. There is apparently no available rebuild kit for the compressor itself, according to the local IR dealer, though they do sell gaskets and the oiling kit. It is a two cylinder, single stage compressor. The "valves" in the head are what I believe are called "reed valves", which are simply spring loaded "fingers" that cover holes in the cylinder head, and they move with the blowing/sucking of air as the pistons move in the cylinders (no mechanical actuation of the valves). The compressor can run fairly hot, especially when pressurizing the tank from zero pressure. I would like to add an intercooler in line to the tank as the compressed air is quite hot, and I think the compressor itself could use some more cooling. I bought some copper to fab up a larger heat sink for the compressor housing, though I haven't made it yet. The flywheel on the compressor is designed to move air over the unit, but I still think the design needs improvement. This makes me want to install a condensor between the compressor and tank). Copper tubing is used to route compressed air from the compressor to the tank, and I think some improvements could be made there, as well. One could remove the compressor to change the oil, but a better soultion would be to insert a ball valve in the oil drain plug for easy draining.
IR sells the SS5L5, which uses the same 60 gallon tank, but a 5 HP split phase 3450 RPM motor running a different two piston single stage compressor.
My biggest complaints are the use of the split phase motor, the relatively cheap design of the compressor (aluminum rods and lack of rod bearings), the flimsy pressure switch, and the cheap fittings used all over the machine. I will continue to use this unit for some time, but I am already considering either building my own low RPM, true 4-5 HP aircompressor from various parts suppliers, or just purchasing a new one from a company like Eaton Compressor. Like houses, I think good advice for someone looking to buy an aircompressor is "buy the most you can afford". I for one like the idea of a compressor running at a quiet 750 RPM at a mere 73 dBa, as opposed to my high revving 1200 RPM SS3L3. Meanwhile, my criticisms of this unit are based on what I'd like to see in a compressor, that is all.

found in MAC2200's reviews: makita mac2200 compressor - top notch tool, it's the best of any of the "small" compressors i have used. i have owned several small , name brand compressors over the last ten years and this is the first one i have really been impressed with. but don't want a large compressor.this is your tool.

found in CFFN250A's reviews: Absolutely No Problem Tool - This is the only 5 star rating I've awarded any tool. Love it!!! - I am extremely pleased with this tool. I can't believe it took me so long to buy this tool. excellent product - One of the best tool investments I have made. This is definitely the best tool for the money out there. Best Tool I Own Hands Down! - I have never experienced a tool that has allowed me to raise my DIY skills to such a high level. I plan on replacing all of the crown molding utilizing my Porter Cable Finish Nailer and Pancake Compressor combo and my DeWalt 12" Combo miter Saw. Two indispensible tools for anyone. More High Ratings - Excellent tool combo pack! Looks like it's already been said, but I'll add to the positive comments by saying that the nailer is very light weight and fires flawlessly. The compressor works very well and is remarkably air tight (held full charge for more than two weeks). I've also used the compressor with a framing nailer and it kept up with no problems. Great Package - The pancake compressor powers all my nailers to drive 16d's at 120 psi all the way down to 3/4" brads at 30 psi. The compressor is easy to move which makes the upstairs finish work much easier. The finish nailer is a quality tool, its a Porter-Cable. Even having to buy a new hose or repair the existing one, the combo package is a great buy. Excellent Value - Get this one! - You get a top quality nailer and a good aircompressor too - in one ready to use out of the box kit. The kit includes EVERYTHING (hose, fittings, teflon tape, tool oil, wrenches, safety glasses, & 1000 2 1/2" nails).
COMPRESSOR: Lightweight - but a little noisy. It also doesn't trip the breaker like my other compressor does, due to the low current draw (max.
If you already have a small compressor then the nailer (FN250A) is still a great choice by itself. But if you need a nailer and a compressor, this is by far the best value.
