Makita Delivered - My Makita compressor was delivered 1 day after placing my order - by UPS, no special handling. Set-up consists of adding the supplied container of oil, screwing on the chrome air filter, and running the unit for 15 minutes under no load to lubricate cylinder and valves. versus 151 for the Makita, and has a 15 amp running motor at higher RPM versus Makita's 12 amp at slower RPM (and noise levl is probably higher than Makita). If you have to go to the next notch higher in rated capacity, this one might work for you, But this Makita is going to blow away a lot of the competition.
Great little compressor - I chose this model over the very popular oil-free pancake compressors mainly for it's compact size and low noise level.

The unit is compact, but much heavier duty than similar Cr*ftman compressors I saw at Sears. I did have a problem where the plastic oil filler cap was cracked, but Makita quickly sent me a replacement part under warantee.
Misleading specs - It's very disappointing since the I purchased the Makita for its lightweight and quiet running. Did Makita alter the compressor in some way that added 20# to it?.
exellent - so far so good, my hot dog arrived defective from the manufacturer, but makita has an excellent warranty on their tools all i had to do was go to their website and locate their nearest service center where in no time they had my compressor running they replaced all parts with geniune makita brand new parts, mine had a short circuit in the motor and they replaced it with a new one, as far as performance excellent, very easy on your ears.
Arrived damaged - I called the Makita service center and explained the problem. I fault Makita for poor packaging and the FedEx gorillas for their mishandling.
Another Damaged compressor - Makita service would not replace parts under warranty so I had to send the whole unit back to Amazon. Also I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with Makita's response to this issue. This will be the last Makita product that I own.
Recieved damaged, Makita service hopeless -
Called Makita to see if I could get the part under Warranty.
Makita has a problem in the packing of these compressor's which leaves the valve exposed to being crushed inside the container. To be fare MAKITA did ship out a new elbow free of charge, I just had to speak with the right "person".

Quiet, Solid, Well Made - I was thinking I may have to buy two compressors, most portable units were too loud for the shop. It had good air flow. I looked at the Makita MAC2400, which was a quiet, quality unit, 4. This little Makita weighs only 30 pounds and is amazingly quiet.3 CFM is higher than many of the 75-pound twin stack compressors I saw. To reduce cycling in the shop, I attached my 5-gallon air tank (the kind you use for putting air in a flat tire) to the tank side of the regulator with a T and snap coupler.
Makita MAC700 -nice little compressor - The Makita is a beautiful machine.
Always damaged -

The compressor looked great, felt great, only wish Makita would have packaged it with more padding. I called Makita and they wouldn't send me the broken part unless I went to one of their distributors, and my nearest one is 40 minutes away.

Great Product....Bad Manual - I assume that Makita used to ship this item with air filter attached because there is no mention in the manual that you have to install the filter. C'mon Makita, hire an English editor for a day and update your manual! Oh, and include some pictures with your parts description! In addition, you may mention that you have to remove the temporary oil cap and install the separately packaged cap (also not mentioned in the m.
Quiet, as far as compressors go. - The Low RPMs are what keeps it quiet(er) compared to similar compressors and that's what I needed for working in the closed quarters of a basement.
Great compressor for my CD Eraser operation, bearable noise level - I have a blister packaging machine in the garage that requires compressed air to operate the heat sealing plate. Anyhow, this Makita compressor is used in the garage along with my machine and the noise level is bearable. It is kind of heavy, I wished Makita attached 2 wheels so that it is rollable.
Chalk up one for the good guys! - The other day I watched them throw a box containing a fragile clockwork I had ordered out of the Fed Ex van window onto my concrete driveway!) And with that, it's all Makita quality! Quiet, quick, and built to last.
Very Good Product - Makita does produce quality products.
Reviewer from Arizona - I am pleased with this Makita's compressor. Comparing it to other light weight/low capacity compressors I had before the engine noise is not that bad. For instance the air filter is place in an aluminum container whereas most other small compressors use plastic containers instead which can easily break off.
makita mac700 2hp air compressor -
Damaged!!! - If it too is damaged, I may invoke the Makita warranty to get replacement parts instead of buying retail.
Smashed crankcase cover -

Fortunately, Makita head quarter is only about 20 miles from my house. I called the service department and the manager is very friendly to offer for the repair.

shipping problems - Makita needs to something about the shipping carton.
An Airbrushing Powerhouse -

I use it to power airbrushes along with an added-on airbrush regulator/gauge/moisture trap. This is exactly what I wanted for airbrushing. It has a much longer lifespan than "airbrush compressors". The airbrushes work consistently all throughout the refill phase. This is the muscle car of airbrush compressors even though it was made in Taiwan. 5 to 10 minutes of airbrushing in silence, and when it comes on it does have some volume, but it is so much less noise than an oilless.

Hot Dogg ! - Makita has put a full size, quiet, oil-lubed motor on a small, lighter weight tank; about 20lbs lighter than the 4 gallon tanks. This makes it great for carrying up stairs and around the job site.
Arrived damaged II1 - As with my first experience the second Makita air compressor arrived in the same condition.
great machine -
during my lifetime ( i'm 77 years ) I have owned several compressors and this quiet machine has performed the best of any.

Compact and well made! - The Makita MAC700 is super! It has all the attributes of a large high quality oil-lube compressor. I love it! If you are looking for a light duty air compressor, I highly recommend the MAC700 Hot Dog Air Compressor.

Whether you need a compressor for woodworking, painting, caulking or construction, this 5-gallon Makita is a great choice, primarily because of its impressive 6-1/2 cfm at 90 psi on a 13. Built-in Storage Compartment - Conveniently stores air fittings & accessories. Air Hose Wrap - Stores 50 of 3/8" Air Hose with handle folded or upright. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency. *Include the 1/4" Brass Makita universal coupler.
found in MAC5200's reviews:
job site aircompressor - I bought the Makita 5200 after I had read all the reviews, almost even before it was out of the box the wheels had been replaced (steel core, airtires).

As with all my Makita tools, I'm a happy camper, they perform when they need too.

Thanks to all who wrote reviews, you've helped to make the MAC5200 better, is anyone from Makita taking notice?

I do have a spare set of originals tires (no miles).

If I had to do it again it would not be my first choice. - I too have several Makita tools and have been very happy with them. This does not live up to the Makita name. Will definetly rethink further Makita purchases.
POOR PERFORMER PERIOD! - I have been a carpenter for 15 years and have used alot of different compressors. I have alot of makita tools I am happy with, but this is poorly designed and built tool.
Big disappointment. - I've been a diehard Makita fan for years.

Overall, I think Makita should go back to the drawing board on this one or risk losing many long-time customers.

This is a good machine -
Miraculously, only the Makita label was scraped when I opened the box.

I'm just happy Makita isn't in the moving business. Makita, besides the wheels, the one cool thing that I would like to see on this tool is a hose reel.

Good specs for the price range - 8 amp draw, collapsible cart, oil lubed pump, good air filter and ball valve drain. Did not find many other compressors in this price range with those specs and did not want to pay $600+ for a monster.

On arrival the box had major rips and crushed areas fairly typical of my experiences of UPS shipment with heavy items. The wheels seem to be ok, if they break they are easy to replace or Makita may have changed their construction.

Excellent product. - Perhaps Makita has changed them.
MAC5200 - We've used the Makita for two framing nailers, two roof nailers, two trim nailers and combinatons of all three ith no problems.
Hunk of Junk - I figured with the Makita name, I would be buying a quality tool.
good performer, but -

I also agree Makita fudges on the specs.

The new MAC2400 - Twin Stack air compressor by Makita is blowing away the competition.3 amps to operate, a lower 1720 RPM rating and a heavy duty Intake Air Filter system like no other, its easy to see how this unit will out last and outperform everyone else. High quality, maximum performance - just what you expect from Makita. Large automotive style industrial air filter for increased air intake and greater efficiency.
found in MAC2400's reviews:
Makita MAC2400 - Its heavy but so are all the other compressors in its class. I first ordered a reconditioned porter-cable, sent it back and ordered the Makita. I have a upright 60 gal 3 hp IR that makes more noise than the Makita.
The other Reviews are Correct, this is a great compressor - Unless you are getting a specialized mini-compressor just for a small brad gun, the $125-175 compressors are mostly junk: loud and rough. This Makita is in the next step up, with compressors in the $225 to 325 range. Most of this second tier are either made for just for job sites or are just bigger cheaply made compressors.

I chose the Makita over the Dewalt for one reason: quiet. The Makita does both in spades. When I went to use a Snap-On 7200 3/8" air ratchet, the performance was just adequate. The Makita is rated at 4.

Great little compressor - com about 7-8 months ago and I was replacing a 2 gallon air compressor so this was definitely a step up. MAC2400 is quiet in comparison to some other compressors but it's still pretty noisy. So far so good, I am a Makita fan.
TO HEAVY - I owne several Makita tools and have been quite pleased with there LS 1412 compound miter was and 12v impact driver. I do not recomend the Makita for those who move a compressor around a lot but if your a weekend warrior it a excellant choice.
Compressor great, but has a couple of issues - It _is_ quiet, as far as compressors go. Perhaps Makita will work on making a manual that matches the quality of the compressor.
Superb compressor - Makita needs to fire their packing design person. - Makita makes great tools with horrible packaging. My first unit was badly damaged by a loose air filter (with a thick metal bolt) that was just floating around in the box. I returned it, second unit also damaged in exactly the same spot also by the same free-floating air compressor.

I hate to take a point off of a great product because of packaging, but this is a recurrent theme for most Makita products I have bought.

Decent compressor if you can get one without damage - I researched portable compressors for months before deciding on the MAC2400. The air cleaner housing was thrown on top of the compressor and beat up the control panel and one gauge from bouncing around. Funny how the Makita packaging engineers couldn't figure that one out.
I called Makita and they would not cover damage but could send me the control panel for $45. I bought a Ridgid model with a higher cfm rating, larger air tanks, wheels, handle and it came out of box without a scratch. A very nice quality built unit, a couple decibels louder but less vibration than the Makita MAC2400. After moving it around the house and up the stairs, I don't know how long I would have enjoyed carrying the MAC2400 or any other brand compressor that weighs 70-80lbs.

Makita MAC2400 2.5 HP TwinStack Air Compressor - Air compressor so quiet to operate , I used everyday.
Not for Contractors - Good for bikes basket ball and toy inflation NOT FOR ANY SERIOUS USE Go for the Makita 6.
Great luggable compressor - The air cleaner was loose in the package (Makita, you really need to put some tape or something on that!) but there was no damage or marks on the compressor.

Con's
~ A little heavier than some other compressors of this capacity, but that is because of the extra armor.
~ Air cleaner is in a slighly precarious spot.

Very Nice - I did a lot of research before settling on this Makita compressor.
The only thing that kept me from giving it a 5 was that damn air filter bouncing around in the packaging.

Perfect compressor - quiet & powerful - After a TON of research, I settled on this Makita. Makita also puts a NICE molded rubber handle on it that doesn't shift or move one bit.
HEAVY = TOUGH -

Overall I love it!!! great work Makita!!!.

Great Compressor - After doing alot of research I settled on this Makita- I have to say the reviews are right- its quiet, and yes heavy, but you can feel and hear the quality in this machine.
Minnesota Charlie - I used it with several air tools like ratchet, impact wrench, stapler, finish nailer, and framing nailer. The air cleaner seems loose and doesn't fit as snugly as it should to the motor. I should have bought this Makita from the start.
RAD DUDE 1 - A close friend of mine has a comparable Dewalt unit, and both of us have noticed that the Makita is substantially quieter, which is very important in small enclosed work area such as mine.
Quiet, fast efficient, well designed - and did I mention QUIET - Makita, apparently assuming the excellent perimeter frame will protect the compressor without adequate packaging, doesn't bother to properly package the compressor.
Very pleased - This is my first air compressor, and I just received it yesterday so can't vouch for long-term quality, but I just wanted folks to know that it has ZERO damage. The air filter was packaged in a heavy plastic baggie along with the oil and manual. The thin paper manual has a few indentations from the wingnut on the air filter pressing into it, but the compressor unit itself is showroom clean.either Makita has improved their packaging, or it had some careful handling along the way.
Lost a star for the tiny tanks - Pumps up fast and empties its tanks just as fast! So if you just want "some air" for blowing out that carb you're rebuilding. My 3/8" air ratchet had it "flat" in no time. Makita if you're listening, please build something with a BIG TANK for us guys that don't have to walk around with it all day.
It's a sweet piece - Having used various compressors in the past from cheap chinese brands to high end models this unit ranks right up there with the better ones.
SOOOO QUIET! - This compressor is amazing!! I've opperated many compressors over the years, and this is the quietest, most well built compressor I've seen.
Excellent compressor - It is heavy, but so are all of the other compressors in its class. It is also an easy 2 handed carry: By placing each hand on the sides of the tubular frame (not the top where the rubber grip is) I can safely carry this thing up and down stairs.

moter is a bust ! - It has a small footprint and is very light and it delivers a decent amount of air. The service tech informed me that Makita buys the moter for this unit from another company, and it is junk! So it cost me $60 for labor to fix a 3 month old compressor. He suggested the same fix as the counter top unit for the next repair. Makita should pull this unit from their product line.

found in MAC2200's reviews:
makita mac2200 compressor - top notch tool, it's the best of any of the "small" compressors i have used. i have owned several small , name brand compressors over the last ten years and this is the first one i have really been impressed with.
Only minor criticisms - I bought this compressor for some fairly goofy reasons. The last reason was because the Craftsman compressor that I had ( 220v 6hp/33gal ) the tank walls surface rusted and the air/water separator ( thank goodness I had one ) would eventually turn rusty red. The Makita had all of those, especially the aluminum tanks. The Makita is not all that light, but it is pretty well balanced, and compared to my Craftsman ( which isnt really fair because of the motor size ) it is much more quiet, this unit is nicely finished and recovers very quickly - usually runs about 10 seconds after I realize it is running again. The only other complaint which is really more of a recommendation is that the coupler Makita provides is awful.

The new MAC700KIT-Hotdog compressor (with AF503 2 Brad Nailer) by Makita is blowing away the competition with built-in features such as a super quiet motor that draws only 12.
found in MAC700KIT's reviews:
Recommended Unit - I'm pleased with the Makita MAC700KIT 2 HP Air Compressor Kit I purchased from Amazon. I did a fair amount of research and was tempted to purchase a Porter-Cable oil-free kit, but after borrowing a Craftsman (same as Porter-Cable)oil-free compressor from a friend, I decided to go with the oil lubricated Makita primarily because the unit is much quieter but also because I'm convinced the oil-based units have a longer life span. I started the Makita unit (after the required 20 minute lubrication "break-in") and asked my wife what she thought about the noise level. I recommend the Makita unit, but it took a about 10 days to arrive, so if you want it earlier, pay extra for the shipping.
Very god combo -

2) Makita used two small (temporary) plastic plugs, one for the air inlet (it includes a air filter assemply to be screwed into this) and another for the oil filler hole.

High Quality Kit - Makita came through big time when they introduced this machine, I can have the thing running next to me and keep a conversation going on my cell phone with no problem.

found in T-2820ST's reviews:
The best portable compressor availible - We use these compressors everyday.
We came to like the low weight (lighter than any of our single cylinder compressors) and the fact that it is quieter than out pancake compressors.

The Cadillac of portable air compressors - extension cords can be used); this is the Cadillac of portable compressors. The paint job on the tanks could be better and air fittings could be included, but those are minor issues.
This is a keeper! - I've used it for air guns, various types of light and heavy duty nail guns, and shop tools. Very quiet compared to other compressors of the same size, but compressors will never be mistaken for a 'silent' partner.
