At just a foot high and less than two feet wide out of the carton, this compressor was quite a bit smaller than we expected, so to be fair, we quickly lowered our expectations. Emglo’s half-century in the compressor business is evident in this model, and with a couple of small exceptions (we’ll get into that in a minute), we don’t think anyone could make a finer piece of air power.) It has air aplenty for two nailers at once, and with that fast recovery, the job will get done in no time.

If we had to say what we didn’t like, there are two items on that list: First, we thought the power switch would have been better seated on the front panel rather than the side, but that’s a miniscule complaint. Here’s to a great pairing of two great toolmakers. The panel houses two large easy-to-read gauges, the regulator, and two universal quick couples. The package comes with the initial fill of DeWalt synthetic air compressor oil. The panel houses two large, easy-to-read gauges, a regulator, and two quick-couplers. MOTION PICTURE IA - The only thing I can say is EMGLO! I have been using Emglo compressors for over 15 years years now in the Motion Picture Industry and on the outside and I never would settle for less. I must say I prejudged and thought well there goes the dependability and quality of Emglo's Compressors. Can handle two framing guns at once.
dewalt has never let me down - its great!!never short on air supply, even when framing.ball drain never clogs, gage panel with two couplers is nice and well protected.as for noise, air compressors make noise but this unit is not bad,its a lot nicer on the ears then my 30 gallon unit. the only thing that would make this unit more attractive would be wheels and a self-storing handle like porter cable offers on its single tank compressors, other then that i have no complants.
A pleasure to own! -

The biggest complaint I have about other compressors is the portability of them. This helps to center the weight to my body and I can then lug the compressor up several flights of stairs without passing out.

The main reason I bought this unit over cheaper compressors was the recommendation to the brand names of DeWalt and Emglo.
JUST WHAT I NEEDED - BUT I NEEDED TO HAVE A SETUP FOR TWO OR LESS NAILGUNS. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL EMGLOW COMPRESSORS AND THIS HAS MET EVERY JOB I BOUGHT IT FOR. IF YOU NEED MORE AIR THEN I WOULD CONSIDER A 2 HP OR MORE SETUP. THAT MAKES THE CONTROLS FAIRLY WELL PROTECTED.
roofer wayne - I used many compressors in 28 years of roofing. The only thing that was wrong with the first dewalt was the air regulator started leaking and had to be replaced. Other then that, it worked every day for two years so far, that with two or three roofing guns going which is like four framing guns and I did not notice it starving for air.
Great !!! - After reading the reviews on Emglo compressors, I decided to get this DeWalt compressor because of the compact design.
A nice small compressor - I bought this air compressor to do light construction work. It may cost a little more but you won't have to replace it like the other compressors.
DeWalt takes a classic to a new level - Originally I figured the CH had a higher air output, needed no oil changes, would work on slopes and start in cold weather.
1) First of all the Emglo name on the unit reassured me that I was getting a tool built by the industry leader with a great reputation for tough, dependable compressors. The first day on the job proved it with quick cycling times and ample air at all times.

In short, this is a serious tool for the professional contractor with loads of power(delivered air), durability, great design and looks. My only complaint is the air release lever, an otherwise solid unit mounted on the underside of the tank. The opening is too narrow for your hand and the sharp stream of air can actually cut your skin.

Porter-Cable’s solved the compressor mobility problem on two levels with this tool. First, and most impressively, it’s got a two-port removable console for remote air regulation and higher air pressure right where you’re working. You can run three or four guns at once off it with a splitter and have no air supply problems whatsoever. The high-flow air regulator and two-port removable console are winning combinations for contractors. Having the ability to remove the console gives the user the opportunity to remote air regulation and gain higher air pressure closer to the job site. Air delivery at 40 PSI: 7. Gauges: two. Quick-Connect Couplers: Two. The High-flo air regulator and 2-port removable console are winning combinations for contractors. Having the ability to remove the console gives the user the opportunity to remote air regulation and gain higher air pressure closer to the job site.

Wow I am impressed - I have owned quite a few compressors thru the years.
From a homeowner - The manual says 15 Amps, but its more like a hair above that. The copper one that pumps the air into the reservoir. I made the mistake of buying one of the pancake style compressors and found it a little weak for doing the basement framing.

POOR PERFORMER PERIOD! - I have been a carpenter for 15 years and have used alot of different compressors.
Good specs for the price range - 8 amp draw, collapsible cart, oil lubed pump, good air filter and ball valve drain. Did not find many other compressors in this price range with those specs and did not want to pay $600+ for a monster.

On arrival the box had major rips and crushed areas fairly typical of my experiences of UPS shipment with heavy items.

A DECENT LIGHT DUTY UNIT - I've a professional woodworker for 20+ years and have owned several small compressors. The list price of $600+ is a joke but wouldn't be all that far out of line if it didn't come with the flaws in the controls that turn up eventually in all light duty compressors in the $200-$300 price range. Using a light duty unit like this to feed tools like air sanders or paint guns would fry even larger, inexpensive, medium duty compressors after a realtively short time.
Happy, but could be happier - The compressor is still fairly new and seems to provide excellent power for framing guns, finishing nailers, and hoppers. However, I am not incredibly impressed with this compressors ability to start. I realize during the cold winter mornings (not too cold in the San Francisco bay area), that some compressors require an empty tank to kick over, but this is getting a little ridiculous.
Good to go - It delivers plenty of air for nailers air wrenchs and filling tires. I wouldn't use it for painting but it was about the same price as the Coleman compressors.
Good price and quality! - I did alot of checking on compressors and everyone really liked the hitachi.
Excellent Value - Compact & NOT too noisy! - I initially bought one of those oil-less 'Pancake' type compressors.
Hitachi's Dependable Compressor - The Hitachi is not only reliable, but, unlike many compressors, it truly works on 15 amps.
Compressor great, regulator bad - It has a quality oil lubricated motor and is competitively priced with "oil-less" compressors of similar size and capacity. It works great with my various small air tools (palm nailer, impact wrench, etc).
Excellent Compressor - I have looked at quite a few compressors and 95% of them have something hanging out waiting to be sheared off if impacted. I think it would be fairly simple for them to tuck the regulator assembly between the tank and pump to avoid possible damage but few manufacturers do so I didn't take any stars away for that.

Outstanding compressor - After using and wearing out several other compressors over the years, I have learned a thing or two about quality. While I use a couple of the DeWalt compressors in my business and am pleased, this PC is my new baby.
The Porter-Cable C3551 is a very nice compressor - I have a few compressors already - but they are too big and bulky to move around and my previous smaller 10 gallon compressor is getting a bit rough around the edges. It fills quick, cycles infrequently, and is fairly quiet.

I think this is one of the best small compressors out there.

Good idea, but a bit more durabilty would be nice - I bought it because I was tired of lugging around other compressors that didn't have wheels. The rolling design of this compressor is very good because it can easily go up and down stairs as well as over typical construction site obstacles.

I work on job sites that have ancient compressors that continue to function flawlessly (but they're really heavy to move around), so I'm a bit worried by the problems I've noticed in only 2 years of use. It also cannot supply as much air as the oil-free version. A trim subcontractor I know has the oil-free version and he has to rebuild his compressor annually with a $40 repair kit, so oil free isn't entirely without issues.

Everything it promises and more.......... - All I can say is there are a LOT of portable air compressors out there and a lot of them are junk.

Recommended Unit - I'm pleased with the Makita MAC700KIT 2 HP Air Compressor Kit I purchased from Amazon. I did a fair amount of research and was tempted to purchase a Porter-Cable oil-free kit, but after borrowing a Craftsman (same as Porter-Cable)oil-free compressor from a friend, I decided to go with the oil lubricated Makita primarily because the unit is much quieter but also because I'm convinced the oil-based units have a longer life span. I'm in the finishing stage of installing hardwood floors.

    Good Compressor/Nailer combo -

I had read that oil-lubed compressors were quieter and lasted longer, so I was looking for an oil-lubed motor in particular. I'm not sure what it is yet, but it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the unit, and I didn't want to send it back for repairs, since I have a bit of a deadline on some of my jobs. It seems fairly well made, and all the components are pretty easy to get to if repairs are needed for some reason. At the time I bought it, Amazon was running a very nice $75 off $300 promotion, and also offering a free air hose, so I feel that I got a great deal on a very good combo.

Works as advertised - I've had one of these Campbell Hausfeld tanks for many years, to carry compressed air outside to work on lawn equipment.

    Pros:

    - For low air-volume applications, or when you need decent pressure for a short while, it works just fine. It's purpose is to have compressed air on a small job (or tire-filling), where there is no electricity.

    Cons:

    - After filling the tank (125 psi to 175 psi, depending on your air compressor), pressure will quickly drop below 80 psi once you start using it. So, this tank is only practical for air tool use of very short duration - e., an air ratchet wrench to remove a handful of bolts/nuts. Air tools just don't work [well] with insufficient pressure. In fact, with 11 gallons of pressurized air, this tank is only useful for small air-volume applications, regardless of pressure needed.

With no electricity nearby, options include: this tank, a long extension cord, or a long air hose. Otherwise, any air compressor would be a better choice, since air volume at pressure, will be unlimited. (Of course, the cheapest tank air compressors cost around $100.

Incredible cfm for weight! - It is more portable than the wheelbarrow compressors and can be put in the back of a pickup truck (unit is no feather weight though --- about 70 lbs!) This compressor has the best of all features--- reliable Honda engine, reliable Emglo compressor, overbuilt protective frame and quality gauges and quick connects make this an outstanding compressor. Most compressors capable of running two frame nailers draw enough power that it will constantly trip the the breaker on a temporary service pole unless run on 240 volts. With the gasoline compressor, all you have to do is make sure it has fuel and start it up! No extension cords and no more tripped breakers! We have used this compressor to run two paslode frame nailers shooting down 5/8" plywood nailed every 3" around the perimeter (120 mph rating) and this little guy could amazingly keep up! The compressor isn't louder than the DeWalt electric counterpart when running and the Honda engine means it will run for many years to come. This machine is meant to turn out a much more substantial amount of air!

The only downside to this compressor is the price and its weight. That is a lot of money to shell over for a machine that does nothing more than compress air! But, then again, would you really be reading this if all you needed was an average duty Lowe's variety compressor? And if you have a pickup, leave the unit in the back and let it run.
